MinneStory is a podcast that gathers personal stories about community from Minnesotans living in rural and urban areas around the state. We don’t claim to have the answers, or know how to “fix” the much-discussed “rural-urban divide.” But we have a hunch that it starts with listening.
Each season will feature real stories from real people in Minnesota’s rural and urban communities. Throughout the season, we will ask: what is community to you? We’ll hear from people, organizations, and small businesses engaging with and contributing to that specific community, and maybe find some recurring threads along the way.
We hope that through this podcast, people living in rural and urban communities will listen to a variety of perspectives to grow their awareness of communities different from their own. We also hope that listening to how these different communities engage with each other will encourage Minnesotans to go out and explore all that this state has to offer. Through this community-centric podcast, we hope to prompt surprise, conversation, further questions, listening, and connection.
MinneStory was founded by Melissa Wray. Melissa grew up in rural Houston County, Minnesota, and now makes her home in the urban community of Minneapolis.
